    Ashim Kumar Sarkar, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi was born on 26th June 1950. He received his (Agriculture) degree from Tirhut College of Agriculture, Dholi in 1970, M. Sc. (Ag) (Soil Science) from Ranchi Agricultural College in 1972 and Ph.

    D. from I.A.R.I., New Delhi in 1980. He joined Ranchi Agricultural College as Lecturer in 1975. He served as Associate Professor (Soils) at Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa and Professor and Chairman (Soil Science) at Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi upto 2005.
